The website consists of two parts.
Individuals and organisations are encouraged to input information directly about their own activities within the areas of food, domestic goods, personal transport, water and domestic energy. The standard format of the information collection allows this information to be automatically added to the full database and visually displayed. This ‘real time’ updating of specific trends gives the user unique and immediate feedback on their individual contribution.
Do you want to share your experiences? Give information
As the information is assembled, it will become accessible to a wide variety of users. For example, policy makers will be able to access information on sectoral and regional trends, whilst learning from the successes and weaknesses of previous initiatives. Individuals, on the other hand, will have access to initially much simpler information providing guidance on lifestyle decisions.
Future issues and topics covered by It’s your choice! and the depth of detail investigated will be potentially unlimited and strongly influenced by the interests of collaborating partners.

The current prototype site also incorporates the Directory, a catalogue of organisations working across the UK in each of the It's your choice! five issues of food, domestic goods, transport, water and energy which has been sorted into various categories to make it as useful as possible for all audiences. It was not originally intended that the Directory would form a major part of the website. This Directory has been compiled as part of the initial research into the different types of organisations working on sustainable production and consumption issues in the UK. Although the It's your choice! project is aimed at providing more than just a ‘catalogue’ of activities, it is nevertheless felt that this is a valuable resource and is offered at this stage as a guide to others seeking such information at this time. It is intended purely to provide an introduction to the various issues and is not intended to be a comprehensive guide.
